Angela Brandt named president of ProMedica Senior Care

Angela Brandt has been named president Toledo, OH-based ProMedica Senior Care.

She will report to ProMedica Chief Operating Officer Arturo Polizzi and will be in charge of driving senior care excellence, strategically investing in senior care operations nationwide, achieving synergies with other ProMedica divisions, exploring new partnerships and ventures, and advancing a holistic care model focusing on health and well-being.

Brandt has almost 25 years of healthcare industry experience. Most recently, she was president of ProMedica Physicians, where she oversaw the business operations, clinical operations, revenue cycle and value-based initiatives of the provider group, consisting of 130 locations. Previously, she served in various executive and operational leadership positions at ProMedica and Summa Health System.

Brandt is also a Baldrige executive fellow through the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

American House promotes Jodie Audia to VP of life enrichment and cognitive programming

Jodie Audia has been promoted to vice president of life enrichment and cognitive programming at American House, Southfield, MI. In this role, she will be responsible for creating and implementing life enrichment and cognitive programming strategies, policies and programs across the company’s portfolio, which spans more than 50 communities in five states.

Audia joined the company in 2018. Before then, she was branch director at Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice. In this role, she helped decrease hospital readmissions and ensured excellence in patient care. She has a varied background in intensive care, perioperative nursing and transplant coordination.

LCS promotes Zane Bennett to director of business development, expands business development team

Zane Bennett has been promoted to director of business development at LCS, Des Moines, IA.

Bennett will begin his new role Oct. 1 and is joining Joe Weisenburger and Ross Nichols as other recent additions to the company’s business development team. He will work with Weisenburger to increase top-line revenue for Life Care Services, the management business line in the LCS family of companies.

Before joining the company, Bennett was executive director for Plantation Village in Wilmington, NC, where he helped increase the company’s annual revenue by more than 35%. He serves on the LeadingAge North Carolina Public Policy Committee and chairs ACCESS of Wilmington. 

Bennett holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina–Wilmington and is an alumnus of the National Emerging Leadership Summit for Health and Aging Services Executives.

Solvere Living promotes three, hires one

Cecelia LaForge, Nicole Passaro and Patricia Jenkins have been promoted by Solvere Living, St. Petersburg, FL, and Maria Omana has been hired.

LaForge has been promoted to vice president of administrative services at Solutions Advisors Group, consisting of a group of companies providing marketing and sales, operations management and digital expertise to the senior living and active adult sectors. She has more than 25 years of senior-level administrative services and office management experience spanning many industries. LaForge joined Solutions Advisors Group in 2014 as the director of administrative services.

Passaro has been promoted to senior wellness director at The Cabana at Jensen Dunes, located in Jensen Beach, FL. In this role, she will be responsible for supporting and mentoring the community wellness director by recommending staffing alignments and other initiatives to ensure overall resident wellness and care. Passsaro underwent LPN training from the Bullard Haven Technical School in Connecticut.

Jenkins has been promoted to senior Salus coach and Valeo director at Heritage of Sandy Plains, based in Marietta, GA. Salus is the company’s wellness philosophy and, as director, she will be responsible for resident engagement programs using Solvere’s signature programs. Jenkins has a BFA degree in communications arts from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond VA, and has received certifications from Kennesaw State University, GA, in gerontology and healthy Aging. She also has undergone Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Virtual Reality technology and classroom dementia training.

Omana has been hired by Solvere Living as a wellness program specialist. In this role, she will assist Salus and Valeo directors by recommending creative programming ideas, engaging residents and educating about how to use resources. Before joining Solvere Living, Omana was the senior Salus director at The Atrium, a Boca Raton, FL-based assisted living community.

Lifespace Communities hires John Falldine as executive director of Edgemere Retirement Community

John Falldine has joined Lifespace Communities as executive director of Edgemere Retirement Community, Dallas, effective July 12.

Falldine previously was director of operations for Edgemere for three years when the community first opened in 2001. Then, he was managing director from 2007 to 2017.

Falldine holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communication and journalism from Oklahoma State University and an MBA from Saint Leo University.

Watercrest hires Alexander Powell as executive director of Market Street Memory Care Residence East Lake

Alexander Powell has joined Watercrest Senior Living Group of Vero Beach, FL, as executive director of Market Street Memory Care Residence East Lake, a memory care community near Tampa. 

Powell has years of experience working with older adults, including having served as a sales director and executive director at The Villages in Florida. There, he focused on cohesive planning to support seniors through changing stages of life and care needs.

Powell holds an MBA from Saint Leo University. He has served the Alzheimer’s Family Organization since 2018, joining the board.

Tracy Philemon has been hired by Waltonwood Ashburn, Ashburn, VA, as the new independent living manager. 

Philemon will be responsible for resident relations and communication. She will ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly and that residents are safe and satisfied. Philemon also will work closely with all departments in the community, advocate on behalf of the residents and solve problems that arise.

LeadingAge New York appoints The Osborn’s Christa Picciano-Daniello as president of Retirement Housing Cabinet

Christa Picciano-Daniello, vice president of sales at  The Osborn, Rye, NY,, has been appointed president of LeadingAge New York’s Retirement Housing Cabinet and a service line representative to the organizations’ board of directors.

Picciano-Daniello joined The Osborn in 1998 and has held positions of increasing responsibility during those 23 years. She has been a speaker for LeadingAge national conferences. Previously, she was vice president of the Retirement Housing Cabinet, where she planned programming and public policy agendas for members. 

Additionally, Picciano-Daniello serves on the board of directors for The Hudson Valley Alzheimer’s Association, as well as as a board member of the Westchester Private and Public Partnership.

White Horse Village hosts intern participants in LeadingAge summer enrichment training program

Two student interns from Penn State University, Gongah Massaquoi from Trainer, PA, and Robert Phinn from Yardley, PA, are being hosted by White Horse Village of Newton Square, PA, as part of the LeadingAge Summer Enrichment Program.

The goal of the 10-week program is to provide leadership opportunities in aging services for students.

Although both interns are majoring in health policy and administration, their career goals differ. Massaquoi is interning with the company’s healthcare team and is pondering getting an MBA in healthcare administration or becoming a nurse. Phinn, on the other hand, is working with the company’s mission enhancement team and is drawn toward the business side of the industry.

Cardinal Construction names first woman president; promotes others to new positions

Katy Susong has been promoted to president of Cardinal Construction Waterloo, IA, effective immediately, and additional employees have been promoted.

Susong is the first woman in the company’s 123 years to serve in this position. She will oversee business operations with an emphasis on marketing and business development. Susong worked at a local architectural firm for many years before joining Cardinal Construction in 2012.

Brandon Schoborg will now serve as the company’s executive vice president. He has been with the company since 2005 and has served as a project manager for most of his time at the company. Most recently, he was vice president of project management. In his new role, he will oversee the project management team, along with additional responsibilities in the business leadership realm.

Kory Carty, vice president of construction management, has a role that is expanding and now will include overseeing the company’s construction management division. During his tenure with Cardinal, Carty has served in many roles. 

Other members of Cardinal’s leadership team who were re-elected for another year of board service:

  • Jon Mixdorf, CEO. Mixdorf joined the company’s leadership team in 1997 when his company, Beck-Erickson Construction, merged into Cardinal Construction.
  • Dave Leonhart, vice president of field operations. 
  • Melissa Hansen, vice president of finance. Before joining the company, she worked at CBE companies. Hansen has a CPA license and graduated from the University of Iowa. 
  • Shane Scoles is a project superintendent for the company, where he primarily works on site at Western Home Communities, based in Cedar Falls. 
  • John McKenzie oversees the company’s long-term care division. He has been with the company since 2012.
  • John Morgan is a project superintendent for the company and has been at Cardinal for over 40 years.

Cardinal Construction’s client areas include the senior living, healthcare, education, commercial and industrial sectors.

Greystone hires Karen Ford as vice president for FHA lending

Karen Ford has been hired as vice president  on the FHA lending team for of Greystone, New York, NY. 

Ford will be based in Mississippi and will serve in a leadership role with Lisa Anderson, managing director for FHA lending. She will report to Field Springer, head of operations, FHA multifamily lending at the company. 

Ford has worked in the FHA multifamily and healthcare loan industry for more than 30 years. Before joining Greystone, she was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Love Funding for more than 25 years. Ford also was chief operating officer of SVN, Southgate Realty.

Adolfson & Peterson Construction’s board now chaired by Brantley Barrow

Brantley Barrow has been elected chairman of the board at Adolfson & Peterson Construction, Minneapolis.

Barrow has more than 30 years of construction experience and retired as CEO from Hardin Construction in 2014. He went on to join Adolfson & Peterson Construction’s board in 2018.

Additionally, Barrow is a part of many for-profit and not-for-profit boards and is a construction industry consultant. As a consultant, he advises clients on operations, growth and strategic planning.

He holds an associate degree in education from Young Harris College as well as a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Georgia.

Adolfson & Peterson Construction offers an array of preconstruction, construction and contracting services across markets, including senior living.
