Elizabeth Diener
July 9, 1921 – May 10, 2022
Elizabeth (Betty) S. Diener, age 100, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 10, 2022 just shy of her 101st birthday. Betty was born July 9, 1921 in Sharon Hill, PA. where she grew up just outside of Philadelphia. Betty was raised by her loving grandparents and mother Mabel Steward.

While an only child Betty grew up with an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins along with an abundance of close friends many of whom she kept a lifelong connection. It was one of those friends who set up a blind date in the final years of World War 2 with who was to become her husband, Milton L. Diener of Houston, TX. After a long distance courtship via many handwritten letters as the war was coming to a close Milton proposed and Betty accepted and they were married on March 16, 1946. Betty moved with Milton to Houston to start their new life together surrounded by the Diener family.

Betty was a lifelong seamstress, an avid gardener, a devoted member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church and loved and admired by all that came in contact with her.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Milton and her loving sister in law, Lurline Diener, whom she cared for in the final years of her life. That was one of the most admirable qualities of Betty. Caring for others throughout her life in a selfless manner.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Susan Bradley (Gary), son Todd Diener (Sandy), grandchildren Lauren Bradley (Keith), Kristin Bradley, Corey Diener, Jeffrey Diener (Amanda), and great grandchildren Kameron Howard, Kaeson Bradley and Karter Bradley.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 23, 2022 from 5-8pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home during visiting hours. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 11am at Memorial Oaks followed by interment in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the clergy and members of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, Senior Allegiance, Blue Star Hospice and Treemont Retirement Community for their care and concern for Betty’s wellbeing.
