LOWELL—Melissa Marie Dunn passed away surrounded by those who loved her on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital, following a brief illness. She was 45 years old.
Melissa was born in Lowell on August 12, 1976, the only daughter of William “Bill” and Marie “Tootsie” (Trainor) Dunn who survive her. She was educated in Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1994. Melissa furthered her education earning her CNA/HHA Certification from Commonwealth Nursing Services and then received her LPN from Greater Lowell.
Melissa dedicated every day to making sure her patients were happier when she was with them. She spent several years at Greater Lowell Visiting Nurses Association specializing in wound care. She was a shift supervisor at Wingate of Andover, MA. Melissa was also a LPN with Elder Care and Rehab Services at D’Youville Senior Care Center caring for COVID patients and the elderly.
Melissa enjoyed scrapbooking, crocheting, book reading, and praying. In her spare time, she looked forward to camping and canoeing with her friends. She was a Boston Sports fan, especially the New England Patriots.
Melissa spent her entire life bringing joy into the lives of others, and for that she will always be remembered. She always loved to see her cousins, nieces and nephews, and she will be greatly missed by her entire family and her many friends.
Melissa is survived by her parents, Bill and Tootsie Dunn; her brothers, Bill Dunn and his wife Kelly of Seabrook, NH, Michael Dunn of Lowell, and Jeffrey Dunn and his wife Olga Dunn of Lowell; her nieces and nephews, Kyle, Ryan, Megan, Brian, and Aria Dunn; her aunts and uncles, Yvette and Phil Tousignant, Claudia Russell, her God Father Roger Chartrand, Arthur and Pam Trainor, Denise and Daniel O’Connor, John Trainor, Brian and Beth Trainor, and Janet and David Dellea. Melissa also leaves her boyfriend, Timothy Conlin of Lowell.
She was also predeceased by her grandparents, Rita and John Trainor, and Wilfred and Dorothy Dunn, Lillian Dunn, her God Mother Bernadette (Bernie) Chartrand, and her uncle, Ronald Dunn.
Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL, on FRIDAY from 4 until 8 PM. Melissa’s FUNERAL will begin on SATURDAY MORNING at 9 o’clock from the Funeral Home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 o’clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, ST. MARIE’S CHURCH, corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts. Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, E. Chelmsford.
