RIDGECREST REGIONAL HOSPITAL — An information and advocacy seminar aimed at local seniors will be one of the new components of this year’s RRH Health Fair, scheduled for Saturday, June 25, at the Kerr McGee Center.
“With all the reforms in health care, the changes in services available at RRH and the overall disruption that the pandemic has created in people’s lives, we really wanted to help equip and support our patients to better navigate the system and get the care they need,” said Michelle Whalley, administrator for the RRH Rural Health Clinics.
“A lot of the information will be aimed at our Medicare population, but we think that this will be relevant to caregivers and anyone else who is trying to understand what is happening in modern health care.”

The hour-long seminar will begin at 1 p.m. Light snacks and beverages will be served. Whalley will facilitate the program, which include presentations from Susan Bodnar of Senior Services, David Haugen of David Haugen Insurance Agency and Sheena Temple of High Desert Fitness and 760 Fitness.
Although registration is not necessary to attend, space is limited and seating will be first come-first served.
The annual health fair returns in-person after being canceled in 2020 and virtual in 2021 because of pandemic concerns.
“The Health Fair is such a wonderful event for the community to highlight all the health and wellness options available,” said Tera Moorehead, director of outreach for RRH. She added that seniors should make sure to arrive early enough to take advantage of the other health fair offerings.
