An Etna woman has opened a Pickerington home-care business to help senior citizens and people with disabilities stay in their homes as long as possible.
Pickerington city officials and the Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 1 to celebrate Right at Home at 12927 Stonecreek Drive, Suite B.
For owner Holly Holton, opening her own business was a long-time goal, and she believes her company can bring a wealth of in-home care services to seniors and the disabled throughout Fairfield County and in southern parts of Franklin County.
Holton has 28 years of experience in providing occupational therapy, or post-acute care, in the private sector. That work has included time at skilled nursing facilities, as well as providing skilled home health care and in-home therapy.
“I opened my office at Right at Home to be able to have a positive impact on seniors and adults with disabilities in the Pickerington area,” Holton said. “Healthcare is moving toward the home … and everyone wants to stay in their homes as long as they can. We can provide the resources to help them.”

Holton said she has 35 to 40 employees and she expects that number will grow as she gains more clients.
In accordance with new state regulations that will go into effect for non-medical home care providers beginning Oct. 1, Right at Home will be licensed with the Ohio Department of Health on Oct. 1.Holton said all the company’s caregivers are bonded and insured.
She said the range of services Right at Home provides is lengthy, spanning from meal preparation and running errands, to helping clients dress and with transportation to appointments.
“Right at Home is a non-medical home-care service that helps seniors and adults with disabilities remain in their homes as long as possible,” Holton said. “We do companion services, personal care, transportation and medication reminders.
“We can do rehab-to-home, or help transition someone back to their home following a recent hospitalization, and we also do specialty care for clients with Alzheimer’s and dementia. We can do as little as one shift a week, up to 24/7 care.”
According to Right at Home’s website, the company specializes in tailoring care to a person’s specific needs and can provide services “at home, in an independent or assisted living community, or elsewhere.”
Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce President Kim Barlag said Right at Home is a welcome addition to the community, which in recent years has seen in-patient and specialized medical care options bolstered through the development of medical facilities by OhioHealth and Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Barlag said Right at Home will complement those in-patient and medical services by providing a growing and diverse list of in-home, companion and transportation resources to adults in the Pickerington area who need them.
